P1 Learners explore production job roles for a chosen media product, including: a) job title and job description b) responsibilities within the production process


Project manager


The project manager is the person who runs the whole operation by having the initial idea to create a game and the first vision. The project manager makes sure everything is getting done to the standard he would like and because of this he goes around telling his team what he wants done and he organises them

The responsibilities within this role are to be organised and keen. You need to be level headed with a key goal in this industry.

 production - within post production the project manager has to be on form during all parts of production and he needs to make sure people know what they are doing or people will fall. The project manger during all of the production processes needs to handle all social media and has all the people waiting on him to produce the game and he is waiting on the people underneath him to produce a game worthy of there time to play.



Game designer

 A) job title and description

 The designer of the game decide what parts of the basic game will make it to the final cut and what will not. He decides what is going to be in the game and what will not. For example if someone wants to make a character they have to run it by the designer and he choose why it should or should not be in the game.

The responsibilities within this role are. You need to be responsible you need to be organised and you need to know what is right or wrong for the game.

 B)  - Responsibilities

The key role in production for the game designer is post. Because he needs to make sure everything is going to be right for the game and they need to create demos of everything together to show people what will work in the game and they will have to present this to groups and why it is good. During post they make sure everything is working before the take it out of post production.


Game artist

 A) job title and description

The game artist is someone who creates the props and the designs for the characters. The designer is quite key in the roll to making a game and because of this he needs to make art concepts and story boards to make sure the game would look good and he would visualise this in drawings to show his fellow teammates.

The responsibilities within this role you need to be good at drawing and you need to be organised. You have to be on time all the time as without you the team will have to rely on others who might not be as technically gifted as you,

 B ) Responsibilities

The artist plays the biggest role in production as they show others what the game is going to look like and why it is going to look this way. They work very closely with the game designer as they work hand in hand to show others the level the characters and what they are going to do about the problems.



programmer

A) job title and description

The programmers role within the team is to program the game. To do this he has to program all the assets separately then make them into one big asset such as super meat boy. The game meat boy has loads of different assets like the character, level and probs. All o these have to be coded and then all put into one long string of code

The responsibilities needed for this role is that you need to be able to make key decisions based on what people want. And by this i mean that if the manager asks that he wants this character running in a certain way you need to be able to produce it and better.

B)  Responsibilities

during production the programmer spends most of his time at a computer and sits there all day just programming. It takes a long time because you have to constantly run the code to make sure it all works well and there could be one break in the code and then you decipher its just a long process of checking and writing the re checking
