Learners analyse two roles within a media production team that they are interested in, including the: a) key functions of the roles within the production team b) equipment used c) skills needed to carry out each roles

Key functions - Tommy level editor. a

Tommy's roll as the level designer / level editor meant he was creating the level for months and even editing the level after release to make sure that the level remained at a really high standard. Tommy needed to always be on time and always designing to make sure that the level was at a high standard his main goal was to make sure the level looked good on pc xbox and ps4

Equipment used b

Tommy's roll as level editor meant he had to use a lot of equipment in order to design a level to a high standard. He uses track pads for drawing and a computer. He didn't need that much equipment.

Skills Required c

The skills he needed to make  the game where grit and determination as the game took up so much money and so much time they needed to be dedicated to the cause in order to succeed . He also needs to be good at drawing and photoshop

Key functions Edmund Producer

As the producer Edmund spent most of his time telling people what to do and making sure it was up to his standards. Edmund would create dates that needed to be hit and he would organise events for the game to be debuted at.

The equipment he needed was a phone a computer and a car. He needed theses things as he was organising the game to debate most of the time so he needed to drive places and send emails and receive calls

in order to be the producer you need to be organised and you need to want to achieve. These are the main two skills needed because you need to be driven and focused in order to succeed in your game

Indie Game The Movie

Indie games are created by small teams often made up of 1 to 5 people and they are the game

creators dreams and they get to make it a reality. And they can get away with whatever they want because these are the creators.  These games came to life in 2008 and when games like Minecraft got big.

The creators of the games want them to be fun and enjoy them and they don't care if people don't like them because they enjoy playing them. Its like a little personal achievement. To sell games it was really hard until valve created steam to make indie games have there own platform to sell and because of this playstation and microsoft had to start making indie game markets

Supermeat Boy

Super meat boy was created by two people. These people where called Tommy and Edmund. tommy is the programmer and Edmund is the designer. And just two people are making this game. However games like gta and red dead redemption took 5 years to release with 1000 people working on it. Being the programmer tom makes the code checks it for bugs runs the code all the time to check fro problems and solutions. The designer makes the level the character and the and he does this so the game feels like it is real and the level acts as a paintbrush to the artist.

The skills they needs to create this game was grit and determination. Over the years they created this game they where depressed someone got married but it wasn't going to well because they where constantly creating the game. For example someone cried when they sent he game of for certification because they worked on it so hard and they where non stop for two months doing 16 hour days and then there was just nothing for two weeks

Platform.

The game they based this game on was meat boy. This was a flash game that was an online free to play game. What they did to it was make it bigger better an run smoother. This game was already popular so they knew that super meat boy would be a smash hit . So the game started on pc however it branched out to xbox and playstation when steam was created because they needed to compete with steam and supermeat boy used this as a way to get there games out there to more people

Equipment used.

The equipment used to create a game consists of a lot of different things because to create a game you need to advertise and create the game so you need a : Camera , tripod , mac , unity, green screen ,. There is so much more that can be used however that is just the key bits to making a game.

m1Learners compare the contributions and responsibilities of each of the roles analysed, and their impact on the production process

Post production was all Tommy as he was the level editor and he made the level months after the game was released. Tommy made sure that the game went from xbox and pc to ps4 and he did this to increase sales and potenial revenue

The original concept of the game was from Edmund as he was the person that created the game meat boy which was of course the whole game they based super meat boy off and because of this Edmund and because of this he made the whole game a sort of revamped meat boy with a lot of tweaks and fixes

pre production was a fair split between to two of them because without the others work they where unable to work on the game say for example tom couldn't code without the finished character and they needed to work of of each other

Personally i think that full production was more tommy has he worked for about 3 months non stop to Finnish the code and Edmund had finished the art months before it needed to be done but i think that the programmer has a heavier load to finish
